As passionate people, we can vigorously switch gears with a snap of a finger. We can go from one idea, to another. One project to the next.
How many unfinished projects and unfleshed ideas do you have? Lol... yea... me too. A lot!
What's worse than that is that when we switch into that gear when it's not the right time.
HOW TO MANAGE PASSIONS
Creatives are constantly bombarded with ideas and sometimes we have the time to act on it. But if you aren't being paid to create, often times we don't have the time to do so.
HAVE AN IDEA BOOK
Write down any idea you have so you can flesh it out when you have the free time.
The more you do this, the more ideas that come. Or probably the more ideas you just remember.
(If you prefer digital notes, let me know which note app you use and i’ll create a shortcut for you that you can log ideas with a tap of a button or through "Hey Siri")
JOURNAL MORE
Writing more truly changed my life this month. We can feel a lot. Sometimes these feelings are so strong, we act on them when we shouldn't.
Sometimes we overthink our next step when we already know the answer.
Journaling helps me navigate these waters and move forward with clarity and confidence.
PLAN TO CREATE
I plan about 30 minutes every night to write and brainstorm ideas.
I brew my creativity tea blend, and have so much fun just exploring my feelings and ideas.
It has become a precious ritual.
On the weekends I will have large hourly blocks where I batch create all my content and schedule the posts for the following week.
I have a content planner that gives me direction.
Whatever it is, make sure it is frictionless as possible. Notion was too clunky and rigid for me.
I have a content notebook that I write in throughout my commuting or downtime so most of what I do on the weekend is just editing that work.
MY CURRENT JOURNALS AND PENS
My "Beyond Book"
This is where I brainstorm my content, log ideas and just map out my creation. The physical journal helps me to detach from all distractions and rely purely on imagination.
My “No Rules” Journal
This is my minimal, no bells, or whistles journal. I splashed a blob of ink on the first page to remind me there is no need for perfection in this book.
When I write digitally, i’m too prone to editing what I write. This book reminds me to write without boundaries and let the ideas flow.
My “No Rules” Fountain Pen “Lotus”
This is for all my long form writing. It’s so smooth on the paper. I use Blue Noodler’s Ink and I will also use this pen in my beyond book for all new ideas so they stand out when reviewing it.
It’s also very on brand because it matches my new guitar.
My Beyond Pen
Lamy (German) Cream Safari Fountain Pen w/ KWZ Brown Coffee Scented Ink
The smell of coffee reminds me of the focus I need to have when working on Beyond.
Here's Your Challenge
↗️ Write around 200 words each morning and night.
Discover the ideas that come to mind.
These feelings are probably relatable for other people. They are great topics to expound upon to share. Consider sharing the solutions you found.
↗️ Write before you create.
This has helped me to slow down, and remind myself of my purpose, and priorities.
