Feeling overwhelmed? 3 steps to regain control.

You know when you use your mom’s computer and it starts smoking from loading up a second tab in Chrome?

That’s how I felt, except I had 50 tabs open and couldn’t Ctrl+Alt+Delete my way out.

I needed a mental factory reset to start fresh.

You're a walking computer.

Your brain can only handle so much before it slows down.

There’s only three reasons why a computer would be slow:

  1. It’s old.

  2. It’s cheap.

  3. It’s full.

Well, I’m not old, and I have a hard time saving money, so I was number three.

My brain overloaded and here’s what I did to fix that:

1. Wipe the hard drive.

Identify what’s slowing you down and delete it.

  • Delete social media apps.

  • Stop watching tutorials.

  • Reevaluate your friendships.

  • Avoid Netflix and YouTube.

  • Uninstall those video games.

Make room to install new systems in your life that bring you closer to your goals.

2. Free up some RAM.

Do not take on more than you can handle or increase your RAM.

Some ways I increase my threshold:

  1. Prayer

  2. Journaling

  3. Meditation

  4. Phone calls with family, friends, and mentors.

  5. Spending quality time with Krystal.

  6. Reading a book.

  7. Drawing

  8. Playing guitar.

  9. Taking a 15-minute nap.

3. Tidy your desktop.

Disorganization creates unnecessary friction in our lives.

  • Clean your workspace.

  • Delete apps you don’t use.

  • Clear notifications.

  • Organize your files and photos.

  • Set a new wallpaper.

  • Reorganize your mobile home screen.

Please empty out your purse, or backpack.

I've got a lot more to say about what turned my life around in the next newsletter.

Check out this list if you need more ideas:

22 Small Things That People Say Made Them Drastically Happier

My favorites:

  1. Put your phone to bed. (This will change your life.)

  2. Calling a family member once a day.

  3. Avoid negative thought loops.

Sometimes we need a fresh start. It helps us to regain focus and speed.

Take the time to clear out the clutter, focus on what makes a difference, and create space for new growth.

You’ve got this.
